You forgot about the element of surprise!

Okay, so it's way past time for a post. I realize this. But routine is not in my vocabulary.

Anyways, let's see. Well it's July now, meaning that summer is halfway over! Boo :( But my roomie Jessica gets here on Friday, yay!, which is also the Fourth of July, which is the day that I have to work 7 - 6 (11 hours...sick), but is also the day that we're all biking to dinner and then to fireworks! YAY so it should be a fun day! I'm super stoked. Jimmy and James finished working on my bike today, so it's all set to go, though James seems to wanna keep working on the rear wheel. Really I just want to ride. It's so weird, like, if there is a day that I go without riding, I get all sad and gloomy. Can I get a witness? lol... Oh p.s. this picture is a little bit outdated, cause I have a sweet new front wheel on it that's black and a little bit smaller...I think it's an Easton wheel, but it's got straight pull spokes which I think look pretty awesome. Here's a pic from Tuesday... you can sort of see the wheel. Anne and I rode out to lake wheeler which was about 9 miles both way. It seemed more like 20. Haha, it was pretty rough, I mean Raleigh is not the flattest city, which kind of makes it hard on a single speed, and definitely hard when you forget to use your inhaler. It wasnt til Anne pulled off gasping that I realized she was struggling! haha. needless to say, we were glad when we got to the lake and got to sit on the dock with our feet in the water and contemplate life. The goose poop smell was a nice reward for such a tough ride. :)

What else? Let's see, my roommates got hamsters, and one of them had 8 babies. Well, this is all fine and grand, but the mom escaped from her cage, and now we can't find her! So there's a rat running around somewhere either in our house or out in cruel nature, with 8 babies that are probably going to die. Oh well, c'est la vie.

In better news, I went to Myrtle beach last week with the family and it was surprisingly fun! I love the beach so much. Myrtle is by no means my favorite, though. In fact, it may be my least favorite. Though any beach is better than no beach. Needless to say, broadway at the beach brought back some found memories of March with my Soulmate, who is currently living it up in NYC [super jealous.]

I don't get why guys that see you randomly in public and will probably never see you again in their lives hit on us girls. I mean, maybe that is exactly why, they think "oh, what's the harm, I'll probably never see her again." Or maybe they are just so stupid that they think they would actually have a chance. Well here's a tip guys: when you do that, we think you're ridiculous. Seriously. If you are handing me a movie ticket, your pickup line is not going to work. All I care about is getting to my seat with my Icee and watching Steve Carell make a fool of himself. Stop flirting, I am walking right past you. Which by the way, Get Smart was way funnier than I was expecting. Anyways. It's not that it makes me mad, I just think it's dumb. My roommate came home today and told me that a random stranger came up to her in the parking lot of food lion, asked her her name and number, hugged her, kissed her on the forehead, and then she left. Thats a little more drastic than my encounter, but my point is simply this: what is the matter with guys? haha I know, I know, you're not all bad............whatev.

Oh, oops that may resemble a rant :)

I love my house. Can I just say that? Well, I guess technically it's not my house, I share it with 3 other people, but it's just so nice to have a place to come back to every day and crash! A place where I can have as many friends over as I want, and a place where I can cook fabulous food in our very own kitchen. ahhh. God is so good, He sure has blessed me. Seriously, when I think about how comfortably I live, I feel ashamed. I do not deserve anything less than death, and yet he has decided to give me more than I could have ever dreamed. Sweet mysteries.

Working at a bike store is dangerous. I seriously want to buy everything. It's a catch 22. You wanna work doing something you love, but if you do that you'll end up spending all your money on it. What's a gal to do?

I really hope that hamster doesn't poop everywhere.

I am so glad that people are coming back into town! I've missed my friends so much!! YAAYY :)

I think my ADD is kicking in soooo...
Til next time! :)

p.s. I think comments are what motivate me to post. So in the words of the mystical disembodied voice of field of dreams "If you comment, she will post"...or something along those lines.

What the Deuce??

Life has been beyond crazy for the past week....

  • Started my new job at Performance which is interesting.
  • My best friend got married.
  • It's been over 100 degrees the past 3 days.
  • Killed 3 more roaches in the house that are coming inside to look for water.
  • Decided to go on a diet. Let's see how this goes.
  • Wrote 50 pages yesterday and today.
  • Dropped my second summer session class. YEAAHH!!
  • No, seriously, I can't do class and a job next session. I want to enjoy summer. so yeah. I'm stickin' it to the man.
  • i saw a bunch of people from high school. weird.
So, sorry for the lack of postage recently. Hopefully that will change once I get used to this new schedule.

Hope everyone's summers are going well!
More later.

And just for the heck of it, here's Stewie.

The bad news and the good news.

The Bad:
Everyone in my class has about 79 pages and I only have 40. Writer's block...it's a beast. I guess instead of laying out in the sun I should have been inside writing. Though, I haven't had a back yard in two years, so can you really blame me? Stop shaking your head.

The Good:
I saved Anne from a roach today. It was my most amazing kill yet. He was scaling the walls of our bedroom when I hear "DANA!!!!!" So I run upstairs, grab the toilet bowl brush (brand new) stood on the bed and swatted him off the wall straight onto the hardwood floor. Pretty sure that either paralyzed it or knocked it unconscious cause he just kinda laid on his back and waited to be disposed of. Anne was a thousand miles away at that point. I think I'm over my fear of roaches! Woo hoo! Now, if I can just get over the dark...

Til next time. Not the actual roach----^

Don't know what I would have done without that ice cream

So, Atonement is basically the saddest most depressing movie I have ever seen. My day was going splendidly. Upwards of 90 degrees, got to go shopping for new work clothes, went to the pool for a few hours, got some sun and swim time, made an amazing shrimp alfredo and green bean dinner and hung out with Noelle. We decided to end the night with a Redbox movie and ice cream. Well, we had both heard that the movie was really good [which it was], but literally left me so depressed that I didn't even want to move off the couch.

So, if you ever are in the mood for something REALLY and I mean UNEARTHLY sad, go see Atonement.

A quick anecdote from my time at the house so far

Alright. I've got 18 out of 25 pages written for tonight, so this is going to be a short post.
Herein is the tale of how we had a small infestation of ants, and how I conquered them.

A few weeks back, [maybe, oh, two?] Tina decided to bring her cat here to live with us. Now, while I'm all for cats, this brought about several problems. First of all, she was not happy to be here and so 92% of the time all she did was wail, but more importantly, a colony of ants got a whiff of her food and broke into our house. I suppose "broke in" would not be as accurate as "crawled in through one of the many cracks in the wall."

Anyway, Tina tried several solutions including ant traps and putting the food up higher, but it did no good.

A few days later and up until about two days ago, the ants began coming into our kitchen from the kitchen door to the outside, and started eating our trash. Little buggers.

Well, long story short, the cat is no longer with us and the trash sits in a tall cabinet. Bingo. No more ants in my pants...let's dance.

The Flea Market is Magical...if you have money

And fortunately my brother and I did.

So today I went back to my home church and things were way different. Come to find out now BOTH my parents are in the choir, and the whole service has been revamped! Well, at least the music. It was great! Anyway, I went home and had a nice lunch, then almost went to the pool with mom, but decided to go to the video game sale at the flea market with Derek at the last second. Ahhh the amazing junk people are willing to throw away. I even got to haggle! We walked away with 6 movies and 2 XBOX 360 games [which apparently go for about $50 each] for about 40 bucks. not bad, eh?

Anyways, since it was about infinity degrees outside Derek and I then decided to go over to Locopops. And let me tell you, it's loco alright. But only because they sell them at $2.00 a pop! (pun intended). And they weren't even that good! Seriously, either I need to pick a new flavor, or I'm just gonna go buy a gallon of ice cream.

Good news: I have a bed coming Tuesday! HA! No more sleeping on the floor for me :D
Bad news: I have 30 pages also due Tuesday. Good thing it's all made-up stuff from my head :D

I love summer.
