I'm not complaining. I love our house, ghetto as it may be with its outdated plumbing and heating systems, painted-over electrical outlets and doors that don't even fit their frames anymore. But really, there is a certain fun to it, a certain inexplicable joy that comes about when you hear the creaking of the stairs as you ascend them, every single word of the passers-by outside through the missing window slats and the water as it drains from the kitchen sink into the degenerate pipes below.
I've been biking everywhere. I'm pretty sure there isn't a better neighborhood ITB...and our house is at the very bottom of the hill. Now this is great for coming BACK from class, the store, etc. But going up is a slightly different story. I've passed on the Diamondback to whichever roommate needs a bike to get wherever she's going, so that means beasting up the the hill as fast as possible on the Peugeot. Once you get past it the rest of Raleigh isn't so brutal. In fact there have been many a pleasant day/night for bike riding...there are hardly any cars whatsoever and campus is especially fun.

I won't bore with every detail of my summer so far in just one post, but there have been several quite hilarious instances so far of note. Going to lake park to get Anne's bike, having our door banged on at 9am, clearing out a colony of ants...perhaps I'll share in detail in a post or two to come. But for those of you looking to stalk, or those of you who genuinely care (now there is a fine line) pretty much my days so far this summer go like this....
1) wake up and say goodbye to Anne who goes for a run at 930 am (...crazy woman.)
2) make a real breakfast in my real kitchen with eggs, toast, cereal, fruit, and whatever else I desire)
3) check craigslist for bike, free stuff, job ads, and pets
4) watch the price is right
5) go on a bike ride/turn in job applications
6) come back and do homework (if you can call screenwriting "homework")
7) do random errands or chores
8) go to class (I love screenwriting!)
9) come back and make dinner/hang out with the housemates or other friends
10) repeat step 3
11) go to bed
And there you have it. Hopefully that list will change, vary day to day, mix itself up, etc once I get a job. More on the job hunt later. My eyes and brain are starting to burn from being awake so long. And I'm feeling rather cynical today. Probably due to the fact that when I got home from dinner tonight I caught the end of Pride and Prejudice on our tv and stupid old Mr. Darcy there being all perfect making his real life counterparts look pretty bad. ATTENTION MALES: take a lesson from Mr. Darcy. Yes, he's flawed. No, he wasn't good enough for Elizabeth. But he didn't give up. He stepped up to the plate. He kept at it. He manned up. He didn't wuss out. He didn't quit halfway through. He...
oh dear this blogging thing could be dangerous.
There are "better than make-out" cookies in my kitchen and there better still be 7 when I wake up tomorrow or Santa is getting a very nasty letter.
